Online Marketing. What The Future Holds?
Tuesday, October 6th, 2009Online marketing without a doubt is the leading advertising technique of today’s times. People holding on to this strategy are making money even in the times of downturn. Consider the example of Sheraton Riyadh Hotels who are experiencing more than 30% growth in their online revenue from last year. The trend is here to stay but what lies in the future for online marketing?
Due to almost everyone on the internet, the competition is tough. Buyers do not buy instantaneously and prefer to do comparison shopping. As a result the websites need to convince the users about the benefits of buying from them. Simply put, you cannot just push the customers to sell your products or services.
So what’s the Future?
So online marketing needs to be more innovative and effective in future. Right now, it is a little unmanageable with email strategies and banners not being used effectively. Optimization techniques and PPC or pay per click programs definitely have everything going for them. These techniques are bound to be there in the future with more inventive streaks. Since the search engines will be used for eternity to locate the right kind of information, so will be the search engine optimization techniques. PPC needs to be more stringent in the norms to avoid any fraud clicks and better returns. (I will write another blog about this in a few days)
There is another online marketing strategy that too has a very bright future prospect. Email marketing, though many consider this form of marketing worthless, yields good results when used intelligently. In future, email marketing will be very closely associated with online advertising and will reflect a very powerful internet marketing model. The benefits for customers will lie in the possibility of numerous touch points and hence higher accessibility.
Since analytics also form a major part in the success of any online marketing campaign, this field will also go a major change with specialized analytics services available on demand. The futuristic market is going to be a customer driven market with every business realizing the need for better site navigation and customer satisfaction.
